Your kids will love to make these ocean creatures finger puppets with our exclusive coloring page from children's book author and illustrator, Melanie Hope Greenberg. It's a great addition to our summer fun coloring page collection!

The coloring page includes five finger puppets featuring a mermaid and merman, starfish, swimming turtle, and octopus. The puppets are fun to color and easy to cut out, making them a great arts and craft or story time activity for a summer day, especially if you've just read Melanie's book, Mermaids on Parade.
Instructions
Materials:
- Coloring page: Print it out here (By clicking on the following link you agree to our terms of service* see end of post) -->: Ocean finger puppets
- Colored pencils, crayons or markers
- Tape
- Scissors
Step by Step:
After printing out the coloring page, color the illustration as desired. Let kids pick their own colors and make their own decisions about whether or not to stay in the lines.
Next, cut out the puppets. Younger kids may need some help with this step. You don't have to be exact about cutting exactly on the lines around the creatures. To aid in the next step, allow for extra length on the tabs.
Wrap a finger puppet around your child's finger and secure the tabs together with tape. Cut off any excess tab if necessary. Repeat for the rest of the puppets.
Now, tell a story with your new, colorful ocean animal and merpeople finger puppets! Optional: print out our under the sea coloring page for a theatrical backdrop (it even includes extra fish puppets).
Finally, print out Melanie's mermaid paper dolls to add more characters for storytelling. Or, see all our printable puppet options!
